My name is Jose Marquez and I am a project coordinator in curriculum and instruction for Stanislaus County Office of Education in Modesto, CA.  For the past year I have had the privilege of supporting K - 12 teachers as they navigate the instructional shifts in the new framework.  In my previous life, I taught US History for 10 years and Econ/Gov for another 5.  Seeing that many of my students were disengaged, I shifted to a project-based model where students were sometimes asked to create their own school government based on the three branches of government and the Bill of Rights, board games on specific eras, i.e., 1920s, etc.
