Virtual Field Trips
Virtual field trips are authentic digital learning experiences that allow students to explore a topic in a different light, not as a production. This experience provides the opportunity for students to still take a "trip" which will reinforce standards-based skills and concepts.

Even though virtual field trips may not explicitly teach social-emotional skills, these skills can be integrated right into the discussions as you learn together. Consider what the setting is, what the social expectations might be, how students might prepare for actually visiting that place, what interactions they might have, and more. This is where virtual field trips solidify their place in a teacher’s bag of pedagogical tricks. These trips provide a sense of adventure, and at the same time a feeling of normalcy. Come and hear how SCOE facilitates these digital learning experiences.

Creating and Sustaining THIS Generation Learning in Schools
Jason T Green

One of the greatest challenges facing classrooms today is successfully creating and sustaining this (and next) generation, student-centered learning. We have been forced to adopt technology at an accelerated rate. Now it is up to us to integrate technology effectively into classrooms and help students build the skills for their world. How can we leverage this moment to prepare students to be lifelong, self-generating learners? This discussion will explore how educators can lead the way.

Choose Your Own Adventure

If you’re old like me, you may remember the original Choose Your Own Adventure novels. After reading through a section, you might turn to page 57 to go down into the basement, or page 28 to go up to the attic. Using tools like Google Forms and Google Slides you can create your own Choose Your Own Adventure activities for your students. With a little time, patience, and hyperlink know-how you can create engaging, thought-provoking activities to bolster student learning and engagement.  Your students can also use these same tools to demonstrate their own skill and creativity, as they explore how choices affect outcomes in stories and their own realities. Don’t forget your internet-enabled Chromebook or laptop when joining us.

How to Recover Fast and Reliably from a Ransomware Attack with Rubrik

With ransomware attacks increasing more than any time in history, protecting your data and having a recoverable copy should be a top agenda item. And, cybercriminals are getting smarter, targeting legacy data protection technologies to encrypt your backup data so you can’t recover and must pay the ransom. These strategies are driving the need for modern data protection solutions to ensure quality backups these threat actors can’t access. Attend this presentation to learn how schools such as Stanislaus County Office of Education, Modesto Schools, Turlock Unified School District, and Ceres USD are securing their data to recover any virtual system in five minutes or less — and most importantly, avoid paying ransoms.
